Media Message

She isn’t…

He is…

She’s untrustworthy

He is…

She’s unlikeable

He is…

She’s going negative

He is…

She can’t

He is…

She isn’t giving a positive message

He is…

She’s panicking

He is…

Her negative

He is…

Never two such disliked candidates

He is…

Strong negatives

He is…

Unprecedented…

He is…

It’s all her fault…

He is…

She shouldn’t have…

He can…

What message are we sending?

We are already hearing that girls are suffering from body image issues during the year and a half of Trump…

We are already hearing that there is an uptick in bullying since Trump began his run for presidency…

I can imagine that there is an impact of the Trump video, locker room talk and boys thinking that they can do more and progress made over the past few years (decades even) will be reversed.

Most of all I think that the media (with few exceptions) constant derision of Hillary Clinton and acceptance of Donald Trump – the normalization they forced between the two – and even worse the degradation of Hillary to make her seem on par with Donald Trump…

What damage is this going to have done to our children and our society?

Everything that Trump has been excused for…

Everything that Trump has done and has not been followed up on…

The trials, the scandals, the assaults, the accusations, the name calling, the bullying, the Rape…

Listening to Melania Trump talk about the things that she hoped to do as First Lady were a direct contradiction to what Donald Trump is…

I get cognitive dissonance from it and I’m an adult

I can’t imagine seeing this through the eyes of a child

I talked to the children in my life the youngest (8) she understands Trump is wrong – so do her friends – they are scared of him and what he will do to them…

The next oldest ranged in the 17 year old range are more aware and cynical. They see that Trump gets away with. Don’t want him elected. Are sure that we won’t act to do things like work to stop accelerated climate change. They aren’t really sure that they will have a world to grow old in. A last name is seen as a ticket to be swept out of the country – no matter of citizenship. One with enough Native American blood to belong more than any of the rest of us.

Trump has left a wake of destruction, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, Islamophobia – playing into a vein in this country that is angry – because of jobs – partially – but mostly because they are losing their white privilege and being asked to be equal to their fellow citizens. Most especially it is a challenge to the patriarchy. The challenge of a woman seeking the most powerful position in this country.

Lock her up…

Worse…

It used to be burn her…

A Scarlet Letter

The media played their role to perfection. Giving Hillary Clinton all the negative coverage. Covering email over and over, calling her dishonest, despite every evidence to the opposite and never calling Trump the same.

The list of what Trump has done and said and his success despite it says that we need to look deeply at our society and the Republican Party.

The attacks and lack of support of Hillary Clinton needs it’s own examination. She has been a ground breaker. She is incredibly competent. She is the most experienced and accomplished candidate for President perhaps ever.

She is…

He isn’t…

Will we try to make her an * just as Donald Trump and the Republicans tried to do to President Obama or will we give her a chance and support her.
